India vs England ODI & Test Series: Are the English Nervous?
While the entire nation is celebrating the greatest win of the decade, the English landed at the Mumbai International airport for yet another exciting series under the captaincy of MS Dhoni. The whole world is looking forward to what will happen to England after the most humiliating experience that Australians had in the hands of the Indian team.
“It is not going to be easy,” says Peterson, the captain of English side. “Indian team has improved a lot and with the introduction of the youngsters in the time, their strategies have become incomprehensible. Plus, playing against India on the Indian grounds is another minus, which we have.”
As regards the new captain MS Dhoni, Peterson says that he is a very outgoing person and instills confidence every time in the dressing room as well as on the grounds. The primary aim of the English will be to keep that confidence down using some tactics that Peterson did not disclose. However he said that once they achieve this, they cannot be beaten. I hope Dhoni too must have heard of this when the English skipper was speaking at a press conference before their first practice session.
Throughout the press conference, Peterson was referring to the capabilities of MS Dhoni, which indicated that he is a bit concerned with the person and his capabilities. However, breaking the confidence of Indians is not so easy as long as there are seniors to support them. With Saurav and Kumble also attending the matches, there will be ample backup for the Indian side. And add to it, Dhoni is not so emotional personal. This makes him the best choice for his retention as the Indian captain.
The English coach is very confident as far as his bowlers are concerned. “But we cannot predict the pitch beforehand”. He is counting on the Steve Harminson and Andrew Flintoff who can take extra advantage of their lengths. The coach is not concerned about the confidence of the Indian team but yes, he is worried as far as MS Dhoni and Sachin is concerned. He says the English will try their best to keep them away from the pitch. “Once that is achieved, we can easily go for a win”.
We, as the Indian cricket fans, can hope that the confidence that has increased by the win over Australia continues till 14th Nov, when the first of the seven ODIs will start.
