ICL from October 10 | Indian Cricket League to start from October 10
Deepak Kamboj on Thursday, September 18, 2008
Kapil Dev, the chairman of ICL has announced that ICL will start its second session from October 10. The number of teams and the venue of the tournament have yet to be decided. However, the major issue with the ICL is that it has yet to find backing among the national cricket boards in cricketing nations. The league matches would be held at four centers including of Gurgaon, and Panchkula.
Commenting on the growth path of ICL, former Indian wicketkeeper Kiran More said that the ICL was growing and it has a 50 crore budget for marketing. He declared that the ICL is part and parcel of growth in Indian cricket. However, the discontent was still there in the words of Kapil Dev when he said that he is not doing anything against the country and the double standard against ICL is wrong.
Answering to a question on IPL, the former Indian captain said that he holds one man responsible for dividing the cricket world, but he would not disclose the name as everyone knows him. Kapil was terse when he said that the deadlock should go away as ICL is doing everything for the betterment of the game including giving jobs to people and any apathy from BCCI is unwelcome.
