Buoyed by the roaring success of Indian Premier League (IPL), Board of
Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) promised more Twenty20 showbiz
that will keep the country's cricket lovers hooked on to television.
After IPL, the latest blockbuster from BCCI will be the Champions
League Twenty20 to be hosted in India and will feature top
two domestic sides from India, Australia, Pakistan, South Africa and England.
Champions League Twenty20 is the platform for the best teams
in the world to compete for a US$6,000,000 prize. It's the ultimate competition
pitting champion against champion.
Starting on December 3, Champions League Twenty20 is an initiative of three
founding member boards; the BCCI, Cricket Australia and Cricket South Africa.
The inaugural edition will run in Bangalore, Mumbai and Chennai, and promises to
provide eight glorious days of Twenty20 cricket. The eight competing teams are
made up of the champion and runner-up from Twenty20 competitions played in the
founding board countries, plus the champions of England and Pakistan. In 2009,
Champions League Twenty20 will increase to twelve teams.
