The ICL Season 2 begins with a high octane opening ceremony on October 10, 2008 in Hyderabad. The Season 2 will see a total of 41 pulsating matches being played at four international standard stadiums in - Hyderabad, Panchkula, Gurgaon & Ahmedabad. ICL promises to make this Season 2 an unforgettable experience for TV viewers, spectators & cricket lovers across the globe.
The 9 teams comprising of the newly added Dhaka Warriors will play against each other once in every city. Every game promises to be a memorable one as each team has international players who have in the past single handedly won many matches for their respective countries. The teams to watch out for the ICL Season 2 are - the defending champions Hyderabad Heroes, the newly formed exciting team from Bangladesh - Dhaka Warriors, the strong Pakistan contingent - Lahore Badshahs and the first T20 team from Gujarat - Ahmedabad Rockets. All matches are scheduled to be played late evening with double headers on every week-end.
While announcing the ICL Season 2 fixtures, Lieutenant Colonel Kapil Dev - Chairman ICL Executive Board said, “ICL Season 1 produced some high quality cricket all-round, very impressive domestic young players have showcased some outstanding cricket. With the new challenge emerging in the form of the Dhaka Warriors team, I am sure ICL Season 2 will produce some nail biting and heart stopping moments.”
The key matches to look out for will be played on the opening weekend on October 10th, the defending champions Hyderabad Heroes will take on runners up Lahore Badshahs. This match promises to be an out and out thriller. Inzaman, the captain of the Lahore Badshahs had promised that this round he wants to win the ICL trophy. The Pakistani’s boys are raring to play.
The first weekend of ICL Season 2 is going to be pace setter and promises to usher in Diwali a little early. The best of 3 finals will be played from 13th to 16th of November.
