If there is one team that can cause nightmares in the heart of bowlers of the opposition, it is Delhi Daredevils. Arguably having one of the most threatening opening pair in the world, in the form of Virender Sehwag and Goutam Gambhir, it is one team that still has not lived up to its full potential. For the third season of IPL, Virender Sehwag has stepped aside from captainship and it indeed could become more ominous for the bowlers in the opposition camp.

Such is the confidence of the team that it has decided to do away with its brand icon in the form of Akshay Kumar and concentrate on its game. Delhi Daredevils one of the meanest bowlers that game has ever produced in the form of Glen McGrath, who incidentally mellowed down after his association with Delhi Daredevils. While he may not be playing in the third season as a player, the team could benefit from his presence in the form of a coach. The team is owned by GMR group which has built the Mumbai International Airport and the Delhi Airport.

During the current season, the team has again been blessed with bounty, as its wicketkeeper Dinesh Kartik has reached sublime form, and the primary bowler Ashish Nehra, who incidentally became oldest bowler to make his debut, has also stuck form before the start of the third season.

The spin department of Delhi Daredevils is headed by Daniel Vittori, who is one of the meanest customers in spin bowling department in the world of cricket, and is no minnow with the bat either. The team has to focus more on its middle order, as it does not have the same explosive prowess as manifest in the opening partnership. May be, Virender Sehwag could think about coming in the middle order to maintain the balance and if he does so, then Delhi Daredevils indeed would be a force to reckon with in the third season.

The major sponsors of the team include Hero Honda, Coca Cola, Adidas and CNN-IBN has also become the media partner for Delhi Daredevils. Delhi Daredevils is a squad that is loaded with utility players and among them are included Yo Mahesh, Mithun Minhas and Dirk Nannes who was thorn in the neck for most of the opposing teams in the second season. Can the team live up to its explosive potential in the third season?
