Opinion is divided between people as to which team has the better chance in tonight's match. Which team is best placed to win the IPL? An online poll was conducted by cricketnext.com.
T20 cricket is about explosive batting and there will be plenty of that on show in the IPL. From Yuvraj Singh to Chris Gayle to Andrew Symonds to Shahid Afridi. Every team is blessed with its share of power hitters. So are the bowlers already shaking in their boots?
"No, I am not having any sleepless nights because if you have sleepless nights then you have sleepless nights about every team. There is so much of quality in every team," said Shaun Pollock..
In fact most teams have had the luxury of assembling some of the best bowling talent in the world and the coaching staff is making sure they get the mix spot on.
"It is very important to have a well-balanced attack. A lot of people are writing off spin bowlers but I think the spinners are relatively important in this format of the game," said coach Tom Moody.
Fielding drills have been on in most camps as you would expect as every run saved in T20 cricket can be the difference between victory and defeat. Teams ofcourse will also have to extract the best out of their all-round talents, although not everyone is worried about not having multi-skilled cricketers.
"I think we are more a team of specialists - a team of front-line batsmen and some front-line bowlers," said Daniel Vettori.
So, at the end of it all the verdict on cricketnext.com is:
The bottom four are the Bangalore Royal Challengers who got 8% of the vote along with the Delhi Daredevils. Only 6% felt the Kings Eleven could pull it off and just 2% went for Shane Warne's Rajasthan Royals.
And amongst the top four - 27% feel chennai will win, Kolkata Knight Riders and Deccan Chargers are neck to neck and the Mumbai Indians got 11% of the vote.
Time now for the games to begin.
