The Deccan Chargers made the mistake of dropping Virender Sehwag early on and they paid the full penalty as he pummelled their bowlers to all parts in an innings of 94 in 41 balls which helped his side to a second consecutive nine-wicket win in Hyderabad.

Rohit Sharma put his more illustrious international colleagues in the shade with an innings of 66 from 36 balls to help the Deccan Chargers to a score of 142 for eight but Sehwag's fireworks meant victory was achieved for the Daredevils in 13 overs.

Sehwag took the 13th over of the innings, bowled by Andrew Symonds, for some 30 runs as everything he tried came off. He finished with ten fours and six sixes.

The Chargers were never in the hunt although they did pick up the wicket of Gautam Gambhir, caught by Adam Gilchrist off of RP Singh for 12, but by that time Sehwag was badly dropped on the midwicket boundary and the rest was a mere formality.
