Working with a Zen like precision Deccan Chargers clinically annihilated all the teams in the second season of the tournament to emerge as Champions when IP was staged in South Africa. Led by one of the fairest players in the game of cricket, Adam Gilchrist in the second season, Deccan Chargers proved all the punters wrong and romped home to a fabulous victory. The victory however was not fluke, but it was a result of clinical performance and some astute thinking by the think tank.

Deccan Chargers is the team owned by Deccan Chronicle group of companies, whose owner T. Venkatram Reddy himself has a peaceful demeanor, and his flowing mane is symptomatic of the same. Other sponsors of the team include Idea, Coca Cola and Kingfisher. In the third season, Deccan Chargers would be the first teams that have started preparing to pass on the management to the next generation, as daughter and son of Reddy, Gayatri and Vijay Reddy have started taking keen interest in the affairs of the team. As a matter of fact Gayatri Reddy emerged as the lucky mascot for the team, as she accompanied the team captain for toss, and won the toss for her team in most of such occasions. Would the magic continue in the third season as well?

An exciting edition in the team is Mitchell Marsh, who is the youngest player to have made his debut in the mainstream cricket in Australia and would lead the charge during the third season for Deccan Chargers. Deccan Chargers is a team that does not have stars, but it has players that have the ability to rise to the occasion when the situation demands and T-20 cricket demands nothing more for the occasion. Among the celebrities for the team are included apart from the captain, Andrew Symonds, Herschelle Gibbs and Rudra Pratap Singh. New addition to the team during the third season is West Indian fast bowler Kemar Roach.

Though the team is facing some problem as far as playing its matches on the home front, aka Hyderabad is concerned, on account of the on-going Telangana agitation, by winning the tournament in the second season, it has demonstrated that, it can adapt to alien conditions in a jiffy.

Already a small beginning has been made by the civil society by initiating a movement to force the IPL authorities to stage the matches in Hyderabad and if the initiative indeed facilitates hosting the matches in Hyderabad, it would again emerge as a prime example of sports scoring over politics. Deccan Chargers would indeed be proud to associate itself with this eventuality.
